Successories: Darth Vader (Happy Fathers Day)
14th-Jun-2008 11:38 pm
Wolf - Sunset Howl
This week brings a set that I was inspired by because it's Fathers Day this weekend. I thought I'd try and spin not only the overall theme but add a secondary one into some of these in the spirit of the holiday. And what better example of fatherhood than the one who made every possible mistake you can make as a father? Yes, Darth Vader...

...I love the fact that there is a universal joke in the Jedi ranks.

The joke is that the Skywalker clan is constantly kept from learning those rather essential 'force lightning' defenses. Yoda knows it, Obi-Wan knows it, and even Mace Windu knows it, but Annakin and Luke seem to never get taught that essential trick. I think they did it on purpose because both of them make funny noises when they get fried.

The flip side of that story is that force lightning only works on someone if they are a Skywalker, which is what the series seems to support.

Of course, if we use Yoda, Obi-Wan and Mace Windu as any indication, how hard is it to defend yourself from "force lightning?" I mean, all Mace and Obi-Wan needed was a well-placed lightsaber and Yoda did it with a "talk to the hand" gesture.

It leads me to wonder since one of the criticisms about Vader is that he wasn't a "smart" villain as he was a mean one. Luke was mainly "flying blind" in his altercations.

Methinks the Skywalkers were never the smartest kids in their class...
