Cronkite was America’s favorite uncle

Given his connection to the Apollo 11 Moon landing, there's a certain synchronicity to his passing away on the 40th anniversary of that mission.

Damn...

I came across this picture the other day and was inspired based on a few "bad patient" stories I've heard recently...

12th-Jul-2009 09:26 pm - Successories - War of the Worlds
GQ We are Geeks
This week I'd thought I'd go a little retro in the sci fi (or SyFy as the channel calls itself now) and take a stab at War of the Worlds. Although I couldn't resist poking some fun at the remake from a few years back with kooky Tom Cruise (personally, I didn't like it).

Old school sci fi is here... )

28th-Jun-2009 09:27 pm - Successories - TOS
ST TOS Enterprise
So, this week marks the last set of TOS-related successories I've played around with. This set is influenced by the fact that I saw Star Trek (2009) for a second time a few weeks ago.

Perez Hilton apologizes for gay slur

Unfortunately, given the "look at me" type of celebrity he is, chances are he'll eventually say or do something else to build upon his reputation as a worthless douchebag. In the meantime, all I have to say about him is:

At the risk of offering some TMI about myself, I've been in a particular mood lately, so this week's set reflects this.

Good LJ friend [info]mhael made a request so I did this one for him:

However, I had a brainstorm for my own version of it and my take on the classic Kirk successory we've all seen:

NOTE: This one may not make much sense if you haven't seen the new movie and/or TWOK.

Okay, I lied...I have some Star Trek fanboy zest left to share and couldn't resist with some of the still images released of the new movie.

GQ We are Geeks
This week, I'll get away from Star Trek and hop onto a couple of cult classics/80s classics that I'm sure more than a few folks remember - Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.

Elements of The Dark Crystal were incorporated into Fraggle Rock...believe it or not! )

This week, I finally get around to posting a set based on yet another 80s movie I have a soft spot for - Big Trouble in Little China. Is it a great movie? Well, that's open to debate, but it's a lot of fun to watch.

13th-Apr-2009 09:10 pm - Successories: Willow
GQ We are Geeks
In my return to cult classics, I'm kicking myself for not having done anything with the movie Willow until now. Not that it was a great movie, but it's a fun one and I have very fond memories of watching this with friends in a dorm room at college.

Ironically, it's the one Ron Howard movie without his brother in it... )

Oddly enough, I find myself still in a bit of a Star Trek mood and thought I'd throw up some Harry Mudd inspired successories this week. Or at least, from the the episodes he was in (and it's a pity he couldn't have been in a few more).

The next movie should be Star Trek: Mudd in Your Eye )

ST Kirk Wrong
I was going to post this set a little later on, but since today is William Shatner's birthday (and according to some, International Talk Like William Shatner Day), I decided to post this set inspired by the TOS episode Patterns of Force. There's something inherently funny about Nazis, prison and Star Trek all rolled into one episode...

I neglected to post a set last weekend due to being out of town and general laziness, but good LJ friend [info]haveyaseenlucky mentioned the "Snuggie" in one of his recent posts and inspired me to post a few new and several other successories I've had sitting on the benches.

Jean Claude Van Damm
This week is my lesson on never saying never (I know I commented somewhere in this blog about never doing anything based on this movie), so what the Hell...here's a Titanic-themed set.

One of these is slightly not SFW )
